what does it do?

on the blow side of the turbo (4.2 GU) there is a silver diaphragm thing connected to the exhaust manifold next to the dump pipe, what does it do? and how do you check if its working?

how do you know if its working? I was thinking of putting some air from compressor in the rubber tube to see if it moves.

use a vacum pressure bump to test it

You could damage the wastegate with compressed air
buy a boost gauge and go for a spin around to block first.
But if its not working and giving the engine to much boost
the engine should have a over pressere blow off valve to protect the motor.
Try a boost gauge to see if you are getting the correct psi
