I have recently bought a landy disco 200tdi which has a BES brand turbo timer fitted. the lights all work on the facia unit and the timer changes from 0.5 to 5 mins in sequence when the minute button is pressed but the engine stops immediately when the key is turned off whatever the timer is set 4.
am i right in thinking that the engine should not stop running for that preset time in order to continue lubricating the turbo while it is still hot. If i am does anyone have any experience with common fault fixes i might try??
thanks in advance guys :P

Welcome to outerlimits macy

You are correct it should keep the engine on for that
pre set time .

Mabe some wires are loose behind the dash

sounds like the timer has power to it but is not correctly / not connected to the ignition, some BES units are conected via the plug that goes to the ignition via a pigy back plug, others are "hard wired" in to the circuit. pull the covers off the steering colum and check it out, if is a pigy back plug check the wires are all conected to the plug properly, if it is har wired get a wiring diagram from BES they are usually very helpfull

my turbo timer is earthed through the handbrake... basicly this means if the timer is set on say 2 mins, then u turn the key off but do not pull the handbrake on the engine will stop... same goes if you take the handbrake off while the car is in the turbo timer countdown.. kills it straight away..

try that??
otherwise maybe try get hold of an installation manual for one the same or similar and make sure its hooked up right...

I also have a BES timer on my 4x4.

Now and then it will not keep the car running after I turn the key off.
I usually press the buttons a few times and change the time and then it works fine. It does this every week or so.. I just thought it was a fault with the unit. :?

Does it only do this on the 4min setting?? Or all settings?

OpLock sell them so they may give you advice

The website is also here.. http://www.bogaard.com.au/

This is what it looks like under the dash..
