Running hot.....

Post by GU BUG »

Has anyone had a problem with their temp on the 4.2 turbo GU after fitting Lightforce XGTs :?. I put them on the other week & since have noticed it's been running hotter than usual. Although I've only had the car for 6 months & it's the first time I've driven it in 40+ temps, on my trip to Avoca this weekend it was getting rather hot when I gave it a hard time on some of the tracks. I'll pull the thermostat out soon & check it out but I wanted to see if anyones' had the same prob :?!

Cheers

yup, has been noted before.
Remove the lights before changing/cleaning anything and try again.
This will tell u if its them or not 100%.

Other things, you ever removed your radiator to clean out the fins yet?

I'll pull the radiator out tomorrow & give it a good clean. Also, I noticed a lot of the fins are bent. Does anyone know of anywhere that can straighten them out with a (I think they're called) radiator combe :?. I've heard of them but wasn't sure if they were available or not .

I have noticed my Mav (TD42 Turbo) runs a fraction hotter after fitting my 240 Blitz lights, but it is so minor I haven't worried about it.

My GU 4.2td is doing the same. Getting hot in high thirties temp. with driving lights. I have cleaned the radiator and changed the themostat but still the same. It has been suggested that the motor is being over fueled. That will be my next go at curing the problem as everything is spot on. Removing the driving lights would help but it would not be the cause.

That may have something to do with my car running on I reckon (check my thread below). I'll have to get this checked out next week :?
