Outer Limits 4x4 Board

guys,

is there any difference in the size and length of the gearbox output shafts that go to the motor between the TD42 5 speed manuel and the TB42 5 speed manuel?

i know the clutches are differnt and bellhousings have differences... is the output shaft any different?

transfer cases are all the same in the 2.8 GQ's and rb30 GQ's right up to the 4.2 petrol and diesel GQ's..

So obviously the output shafts on the gearbox itself will all be the same.

Input on the front, output on the rear

Diesel clutchs are heavier duty.

but are they the same spline count on the gearbox?

is the output shaft to the motor from the box in the diesel 5 speed exactly the same length, spline and size as the petrol one just hearvier duty clutch?

Yes that is correct screwy but the bell housing on the petrol has 1 less locating dowl i think( or is that one more?) But the rb30 and the RD2.8t have a smaller gearbox than the TB/TD 42s

sweet as...

well after speaking to carlton today ive been told that the clutches are different because of the duty rating on them... but the GQ splines are the same...

i then went into repco and did some research.

found out that the spline, thickness and diameter and all dimensions are exactly the same between the TB42 clutch and the TD42 clutch....

the price difference between the 2 is very large however.....
the diesel one is much dearer...
larger springs etc etc...

the diesel clutch is much hearvier duty so i decided to go with it anyways instead of the petrol one.....
