We have had bfg 33s and now we got mtr 35s, I can say that the mtr are awesome, on wet rock they still grip as if dry. But I do notice that the mtr are a bit softer (would wear quicker probably?). Also, a very smooth ride with them.

gday, i had both 32x11's and 33x10s in BFG muds on my last lux and they were great. was thinking of going MTR's on my new one cos my mates are holding up great but it is only a zook, so after reading this i might have to go the BF's again. Thanks all. Also have you's considered the cooper muddies???

Had a set of 285/75 16"s MTR's on my 75 series. They were brilliant. Good wearing and great offroad. Good on the road too. I did 10,000kms and have just changed to 35 / 12.5 / 15's. I have had BF's and would stick to MTR's after my last set. Food for thought. I think it just depends on who you speak to and what they are happy with. I did see an article on tyres in a mag which rated the BF's no 1 , Coopers no 2, and the MTR 3rd. That was in muddy conditions. As a general purpose tyre for all conditions I like the MTR's.

i have 33x12.5 muddies on my 75series and i have had heaps of problems with them leaking out of the bead, as soon as they take a bit of a dip in the mud they get shit in the bead and leak non stop, gotta pull them off the rim clean it and refit the tyre. a real pain in the arse. ive also had lots of punctures through the side wall, from tiny arse little sticks, but maybe im just unlucky
but they definatly grip well in the mud.
ill be going the pro comp muds next set....

I have a set of 35x12.5 BF's and they may be good in the mud but they are pathetic when it comes to sidewall protection. Next time I will go the Pro-Comp's

farout i hope i get more than 10,000 ks out of my bfs id be highly disappointedd if i paid $365 a tyre and only got 10,000 ks out of them.surely this must be an incorrect amount.

I changed to 35 inch because I wanted bigger tyres. Not changed because they wore out. After 10,000kms I would estimate 85% tread still to go!

also trying to sort out tyres at the moment. mates got a set of MTR's that have really bad uneven wear, makes them very noisy and vibrates has anyone else had this drama? hes done 80K and no punctures

Mtrs dont work as well in the Mud as other tyres but when it comes to rock and most other terain they reaaly work well.Yes they wear a little quicker but thats why they grip on the rocks so well, there softer. If your worried about every last km then buy some Allterrains or road tyres
If you wont a good all round tyre the Mtr is hard to beat.

Which one is quieter????

by muddy80s
no worries badboy no sarcasm intended just misinterpreted.mugsy the mtr is quieter but the bfg lasts longer 6 of one and half dozen of the other really but any of these 2 seem to be the generally most used for on and off road.my bfgs arnt that noisy but then my roof rack makes more noise than they do. thanks muds

we have all herd it befor but here it is one more time for you! in the big picture these tyres put together coulnt drive you off a banna skin much less a real 4WD track
what do you want out of a tyre? if you want to drive to safeway and back you could probably get a different tyre all together
