Hi All,

I was driving the work 110 over the last week. When the front diff articulates, the coils are rubbing on the chassis. Makes a bit of an awful noise and catches. It does this on both sides. I'm thinking maybe very worn bushes on panhard rod. Any other ideas?

It just got back from a service and the mechanics at work didn't find anything. Can't guarantee they checked bushes etc.

Thanks,
Adam.

are you sure it is this? i know my old front springs used to pop out and back in every now and then, making a big bang. I wouldnt think they could reach the chassis. :?:

I stopped the car when it was crossed up and got underneath it to see what was making the racket. The driver's side spring that was compressed was touching the chassis. There was a fair bit of rubbing on the chassis on both sides.

Even when on level ground there isn't a whole heap of room between the chassis and front coils.

I don't think the shocks are long enough to allow the springs to unseat.

my Rangie Spares front springs are touch big/loose on the ID and move on the seats making a hell of a racket when articulating (like on the road out of here )
Scares the hell out of SWMBO when she's with me.
