stretching springs

i know people have done this before. Is there any side effects to fixing some coils at the top as well as the the bottom? so that when the wheels travel it compress's on one side but strech's on the other.
I know that will probably not get as much travel.
After people's opion's please speak up.

retaining springs top and bopttom is my preferred setup. Many of the rover guys are doin it and it alows for more even flex (front to rear), and in most cases better stability.

DO IT.

so you mean buy better stability that the suspenion is hard to un load?
this is what i was thinking but do you know if it will effect the coils buy making them work in a reversr manner.

it should not worry coils . like any spring it has memory and will return to its normal state and form .[/quote]
