Son of Trials 18 & 19 March

Post by beretta »

Anyone planning on doing this event? Good start for people with standard or mildly modded rigs, max 4" lift (spring, body or combo of both), 33's, no lockers, should be pretty good. held at same site as Nissan Trials.

yeah, a few people i know want to have a go. sounds like its going to be fun and not much chance of breaking your car so its a good practide comp for people on a real world budget :P

Hmm, sounds exactly what I'm looking for!

I don't want to break my truck (too much), and really don't have a truck capable of most of the competition tracks I've seen.

I'm guessing this isn't a deadly serious competition? I won't be laughed out of the competition if I'm slow or get stuck on some wimpy obstacle, will I?

Anyone have any photos of the track? Or any idea if I'd make it round in a basically stock NH Pajero?

Yeah, stock Paj will be fine. From what I am told and have read it is solely for stock or very slightly modified trucks, great entry level comp, so come out and get amongst it.

Should be an awesome weekend, really looking forward to it.

Don't tell anyone, but we're a bunch of pushovers and have trouble saying no. Pretty sure it'll be right on the day. Will post something if we get swampped by enteries before the event gets closer.

I reckon it's fantastic to see events of this calibre being run still. Too many have grown or tried to grow into hardcore events and have left the little guy behind. Not everyone has ten G's to throw at 37"s, lockers, a winch and big lift.

I'd love to get in on this, but after talking to Mamma Bear, she seems to not really want to do it... All we'd have to do is disable the locker....

And then there's dad... Who wants to use the 60 to go away in April... I've tried explaining that there wont be much carnage... then he said "But if you're driving, your mother can't road build, or vice versa!" grrrr....

so if anyone would like a bit of a nav, let me know, as I'd love to be a part of this...

The way I understand it you pay an entry fee per driver just like you said above.

I could possibly have a spare seat as my navi/mate is a pussy and can't come anymore, if the seat is empty you're welcome to it and I will probably need all the help I can get anyway!

I'll be there covering the event/competing in the MQ. Look out for a white SWB with 4WD Monthly stickers, and I'll give you a beer if you throw bananas at me!

PS I'm only going up with my navi/co-driver Frank (Ford Mav from the 4WD Monthly forums)... anyone wanna have abeer on Saturday night?

the website says " vehicle must have four of them which are required to remain in close contact with the ground for the entire event. "

So i guess a shortie is outta that question  . I am considering this event but if i cant lift a wheel or 3 its not worth me swapping diff centres ( CIG)

cheers

Been out helping mark out the tracks today, it's going to be a good fun event, nothing too way out, but the odd thing to make you think a little bit.. Unless someone goes and does something dumb there is a pretty limited chance of panel damage or breakages, its all very driveable, but there are a few things to keep you on the ball still. So if you are holding back for fear of damage or whatever, give it a second thought it's going to be a lot of fun. They had a stock standard Pathfinder drive all of the tracks I saw today, so anyone could have a go.

I'm the trip co-ordinator for brisbane waters 4wd club and that is exactly how I've promoted the event in our club ....as a good fun weekend, not to be taken too seriously with no real reason to sustain any damage what-so-ever, and I'm told we've got a few guys going down to have a bit of fun....looking forward to it !

Beauty of it is that anyone can have a go and you can have multiple drivers for the one car! So the family can finally sort out who really is the best driver in the family!

The Pathy that was going around today was dead stock with stock roadie style tyres and he got through everything. So it doesn't matter what mods you have or don't have, the way it is structured mods won't mean much at all really.

Glad to hear this is organising so well!

Any chance of camping on friday night? I'm not keen on getting there saturday morning, and would rather come after work on friday.. depending on traffic, that could be around 9-10-11 PM. Looking very forward to this!

EDIT: Typical... I post this.. THEN decide to read the website...

Yeah camping Friday night is cool, as you now know!

Pongo not up to speed with the scoring side, but from the sounds of it it is going to be a mix of NIssan Trials type events with funkana style events. The tracks/stages that I saw will be good fun, bit of reversing to be done!

Whoever is going off here should make sure we have a few cold ones on Saturday night, would be good to meet a few of you in person?

Awesome to see a few OL crew will be there, haven't got a pic handy of my rig, but its a GQ LWB blue over silver, got three narva bull lamps across the front, custom pos bar with winch, swampers and bright orange 4WDTV stickers front back and sides! So if anyones up for a drink on Saturday night make sure you yell out, otherwise I'll be the dude kicking around with a video getting some footage of the event with a 4WDTV vest on so make sure you say g'day!
