That bumper bar ain't look to straight either. If he's going to mow down pedestrians, he might as well fit a bullbar. :D

Gee thanks mate. Wanna thank an Outer dude that stopped to offer a hand just out of yarra glen. Who ever u were thanks.

Think i have a problem with the electronic ignition system(Priahna) when it gets hot. Starts missing bad and obviously i get no power.

Came flying down blowhard tk cos i was in a rush to get my girl to work and i bounced out of the ruts locking it up into a tree! Bwahahaha we pissed our selves laughing. Was great!

Hahahha got a mate to get her home!

So anyone got any thoughts on random as missfiring after a day of driving. Temp gauge is fine. Once it starts missing it wont stop. I have a piranha electronic ignition system. I reckon it might be time to upgrade it cos its so hard to chase a random problem.

Any thoughts? What do u guys run?

once had a piranha ignition in an old rangie of mine. It stopped working with a busted wire (damn those wires are fine) but that stopped it dead and took about 2 weeks to find.
Not sure where it is mounted but if you think it could be either heat or condensation affected, have you tried mounting it inside the cabin? I eventually cut all the wires to mine, threaded them through the firewall and had the module mounted up high near the front passenger kick panel.

I have thought about doing this but its getting to the stage where i have to drive it all day to really test it. Im sick of being stuck 40kms away! Might be the go and try to do alot of driving when i know im camping for the night! That way it should be right again in the morning.

I think its something to do with heat cos i heard some of them may need to be mounted to something like a heat sink. True could be water as its not water tight at all.

Thanks tony!

I thought about this but i was told that a coil will either work or not work! Is this true? Do coils simply die or do they perform crap before they die?

They can cause the spark to break down causing rough running and miss firing.

Most probably an ignition problem and could be the coil.
But some diagnostics at the time that it fails would be beneficial Steve.
Do you get spark out of the coil?
Do you get spark at the leads?
Do you have fuel at the carby etc.
you can then start to pinpoint the problem

the landy was starting & running fine, then a few k's
up the road it would miss & backfire & down on power,
at first I thought it was a fuel blockage. but was the coil.

Sounds very similar to whats hapening to me but seems to take longer like driving for a day etc.

Tony yeah i have spark and fuel! The only problem i have found its under load when she starts carrying on. Anyway this week i will rewire the module to inside the car and replace the coil. Might give it a test before wandin this sat/sat night.

So you must be planning on finding the next weak link Saturday night so you can pick it up a replacement at a bargain price on Sunday then

If it's missing when at full temp only, I'd say coil is stuffed. Just had two different ones do the same when hot. Couldn't even touch them.

Bugger one more question. What coil do u guys recomend for the electronic piranha setup?
