Hi i'm new here. i have a 2nd hand 2.8 td nissan patrol st 1999 with 138000km on the clock. Its a great car and love it so much better than the discovery i had.
So here's the go.
i got up thismornig and went to the car to go to work. i put the key in as normal and turned it to start and after the ACC position all the electric's were powerless. so i took the key out and did it again same. checked battery connections they were good voltagt 12.46Vdc
i'm at a loss as to what it could be. is it the NATS system cutting in for some reason or relay or fuse.
HELP
thanks

Clan the terminals, then check the battery voltage while someone is trying to start the vehicle. If the battery voltage drops away dramatically then the battery is shagged.

If this is ok then check all your fuses including the fusible links. Best way to check a fuse is to check for power with a test light on either side of the fuse. Visual checking can sometimes not show a blown fuse.

If then you still come up with nothing, tow it to a sparky.

Check all the earth wires between Batt/body/engine. My old shorty had a bit of rubbish between the connecters and the body and would would not start at all. And when I did get it started (tow start) chaning the head lights from low beam to high us to shut the fuel solinoid off.

Its manual so that rules out that. I have a voltmeter/thermoter thing from jaycar installed and it drops to around 11.something on glowplugs then a tiny bit more when starter moter engaged. all connections were good on -ive side and +ive terminal.

sorry i forgot to say that after i checked to V @ the batt it started fine.
and did this arvo @ work
