Outer Limits 4x4 Board

Spoke to 3 engineers to about getting my lux done, and all 3 wouldn't have a bar of it something to do with an RTA bulletin, and one even suggested reversal of previously engineered vehicles. Does anyone know what the go is?
And where around sydney/wollongong area is an engineer who is resonable and has some balls.

Hey guys, I'm stuck up here in the NT but plan to return someday. I'm hearing lots about this new legislation only allowing maximum 2 inch lift, tyres, body blocks and suspension all added up. That really sucks! Also hearing from an engineer that it will be picked up by QLD and Vic too, and apply retrospectively, so all previously approved vehicles won't be legal. Our country is turning to shit, maybe I'll move to the US.
Can anyone shed light on this depressing news?

i thought it it was going to be max 2inch lift by 2inch body with standard wheels?

and I thought it was going to be 150mm max lift including tyres, suspension and body.

In WA it is currentlt 150mm max with an engineers report and lane change test. You can you up to 2" with out any reports or test. This lift includes the sum of tyres, body lift and suspension

Just talked to a couple more engineers this is the way it seems it will go
100 mm suspension lift (and may be lift overall ie tyres included)
Tyres 15mm over largest tyre and wheel combination on tyre placard
and no more than 25mm wheel track increase.
Road testing and roll over indexing.
And chances are it will be retrospective and previously engineered vehicles tested on individual basis.

Viper these engineers are messing with you just ignore them,its almost certain to be 50mm suspension,50mm tyres,75mm bodylift and 150mm total.

I don't mean to be rude or doubt you, but how much authority are you speaking with, as I've heard nastier doom n gloom stories than that from Engineers authorised by the NSW RTA. I know they get it wrong sometimes and I hope they have, as 150mm all up is far better than the 50mm total I've been hearing.
3inch (75mm) body lift blocks are damn near imposible to get engineered now, what makes you think the fun police will OK them in the future?

that will do 4" coils , 2" body lift and 35s no problem

i have spoken to an engineer about getting my mods engineered before these so called new laws come in..... he will do it, no probs, and i have 8" of lift.... i'll paste what he wrote to me in his email. I'll include my points and his as well...... it doesn't sound as bad as everybody is saying it is.

Sounds fair. Don't forget to extend the rear mudflaps and fit flares (if
needed) to cover the tyres.

The new federal rule book has been released as a draft. It allows "high lifts" of between 50mm and 150mm. If I recall correctly, there's a slalom test that they'd never pass and nobody in NSW appears to have anywhere to do this test! Beyond 150mm total lift will not be permitted at all.
There is absolutely no indication as to when any of this might come in.

I got caught up in the “you have one month to get engineered hysteria last year” but in the end everything worked out OK, the engineer was very cool in his responses initially but everything was fine once he realised I wasn’t a time waster.
Why wouldn’t the new code go though everything in it seems quite reasonable? I’m not suggesting some of its not unreasonable from our point of view, but in NSW you seldom see much change from the draft to what is becomes law. The vast majority of people can live with can live with four inches of lift so that close to what will go though.
My current car wouldn’t pass under the new rules and the serve test is going to be a very big and expensive inconvenience at the least but it’s hard to argue that you shouldn’t be able to pass it.

in the end, it matters little anyhow..... most lifted fourbys in NSW are not engineered...... i would reckon that 3/4 of them are illegal (technically). I know a lot of guys who have lifted their vehicles, and a lot with body lifts, none are engineered. As tough as things are in Qld, when i was up there recently i noticed (on the sunshine coast particularly) that every second 4WD was lifted well beyond what they are allowed in Qld..... i just think people will continue as they are now, no matter what state they live in.

you wouldn't be an idiot though if you had an accident and somebody was seriously injured...... the first thing they would be asking for was the engineers certificate and the blue slip for your vehicles modifications.

anyone in Sydney know someone that i can get a blue slip from.
the guy i was getting one off just stopped doing the good ones.
