i've searched both sites, but what size tubing do i need to use for a 6 point cage to be used in CCDA sanctioned events?

minimum internal diameter, wall thickness, and material type (i.e. seamless?)

I went through the rules a few times, but I am still not sure if I get away with a full external cage on my ute????? Yes, I can made the front loop in one part and the the main hoop with the diagonal tube...Any advice? Thanks

thanks for that, i really do suck at the internet page 42 is the moneyshot for those interested.

also anyone got an estimate on how much tube they usually use for a shorty 6 point cage (i.e. wrangler, or 40 series?)

that measurement is for the main hoop isn't it? just reading the rules and making sure i understand.

the main hoop is just the center hoop isn't it? it's not the one around the windscreen

also what are "diagonal members" are they the diagonal braces that go from the top of the main hoop to the floor behind the front seats?

Yes the main hoop is the cener one and yes the diagonal members are the cross braces in the main hoop . Im also looking into this at the moment and as the specs read , the rear stays have to be straight with no bends. So can anyone tell me why ? all of the top teams competing at the moment have at least one or two bends in them. .....? shane

my understanding, bends are weaker triangulating the rear stays adds strength meaning the cage won't bend back. from my understanding

so the two diagonal braces, do they have to be single pieces, or can they join at the crossover point?

yer ive wandered too, bout the bends in the rear braces. Ive seen Antmans datto with the rear braces straight then curved down so his kids can still sit in it. Not only that, he has a removable cross brace. Except the cross brace is tied to six points in the main hoop with 12 bolts. My old man can put a roll cage in for me, just how to you get it comply'd?

rear brace is the bpillar brace, a pillars are ofter (i do this) two seperate l hoops with a removable windscreen brace as this needs to be removed for road use, the rear according to class 2 needs 2 triangulated bars on the b pillar hoop, but get mine made as standard class 1, the extra brace I charge a little extra. the reason is the single brace and helt hoop is fine for what we do, and if you run events that dont require them (I ahev one coz safety is paramount to me) then it is fine. some classes need only b pillar back. rear braces (6 point bit( can be removable, but can not be bent as it takes the strenght away.


I get them done boltable, the only bit you need to cut to remove in the through the dash front a pillar legs

brackets are 6mm tig welded numbers


I can supple all the bits seperate ie brackets, foot plates, threaded harness ferals etc

all tube in my kits is 44.5mm as it is easy and uniform.

so that last pic of the whole cage, that cage would be acceptable for CCDA purposes? i hope so because it's simple... i like it
