Terios - Are they worth considering?

Terios - Are they worth considering?
I can't seem to be able to buy a Feroza/Rocky in the area that suits my cash outlay versus value for money so I was considering a Terios (there's a couple on Ebay at the moment). Are these things any good in the bush such as fire trails and fairly rough tracks or indeed where a sign says "4 wheel drive vehicles only"?

Hell no!...... in a word, or two. As mentioned, next to no offroad ability, you may as well buy a datto 1600, would probly go further and last longer.Terios - Are they worth considering?
How far is maitland from sydney? I'll probly be selling my rocky in a few months if you want to wait
What sort of price range are you in?? I cant imagine a terios being any cheaper, as they are a fair bit newer than the latest Rocky.

OK Thanks for the replies. Just thought that being a 4x4 Daihatsu, they might have some ability. I'll keep searching for a Feroza or Rocky around $5K mark. There are a few available at the moment but they just don't suit me. I let a good one slip away a couple of weeks ago and am kicking myself ever since. I should never have had any doubts about it but "c'est la vie"

I was hoping to get something for around the $5000 mark. Must have air and steer and preferrably a bullbar. I just like to get up in the mountains around the Hunter and Barrington Tops, so it must be ultra reliable. Thanks F70, I just saw that one on Ebay. He's about 5 minutes away from my place. I'll check it out tomorrow. I thought all Rockys were diesel. this one states it is petrol

Yeah, the earlier ones came out with a 2L petrol motor... and the one on eBay has seen 301,000kms... petrols wont last much longer than that if it the original engine... thats huge!
I'd highly recommend the diesel engine dunky... They go so much better.. the turbo ones go even better... and the intercooled one go even better still

Yeah, they came in petrol models but are crappy IMO (just like IFS but i'm very opinionated, so they say ) Friend of mine had one same year model as mine, or maybe 85, cant remember how many K's it did but engine was gutless and smokey and generally a heap of .... well, you know.

3y motor is actually not a bad motor and yes very easy to repair however when you are pulling a car with the weight of a rocky the 2.0ltr motor tends to struggle with bigger tyres and on hard terrein. imo.
owned one so i know the issues with 'em
however if you are only doing mild stuff and not too big on the tyre size then it will go ok and prolly surprise ya

Mine is now lifted with Rancho shocks and 31" Goodyear MT/Rs on it.. Ready to Rock! Should be a good matchup

My first 4x4 was a 85 Rocky (hardtop) with the 3Y. It turned 31s fine.
Easy engine to fix.
