gear changes and angles

'88 swb gq doesnt like changing into reverse when the car is in low range or its anywhere other than on flat ground(say an angled car park), double clutching, different rev's, running from other gears etc doesnt seem to work. it just wants to GRIND! but turn the motor off and it has no drama's starting in gear and changing out.

on flat ground in 2H only with or without the motor running it just slots straight in smooth as pie. all the forwards gears have no drama's.

any time the car has even maybe seen water in the time i've owned it i've dropped the oils (and my breathers do work!) never been anything abnormal on the magnet.

idea's on making the box last a bit longer before i gotta go get it rebuilt and what the major problem could be?
Sorry for the long winded post

Cheers

Simon

have you tried bleeding the clutch?
there's probably air in the top of the slave cylinder, when the car is on an angle the air is moving into the line of fire.

Sounds like you have tried most things I now have the habit of (after trying reverse) changing then into first, let the clutch out until it grabs slightly (with other foot still on brake) , depress clutch fully again, then shift straight back into reverse - works most times.
