crazy idea, manual to auto conversion

hey all, been thinking about this for a while now and i know ill probably get shot down but here goes.....
i'd love to do a auto conversion on my ute 00 gu coil cab) but use a 5 speed auto from a 4.8 petty
now from what ive read a tb 42 gear box will bolt up to a td 42 block and a tb 45 and tb 48 are just a bored out version of a tb 42 block so am i right in saying that it would bolt up to my diesel?? have i read right or am i way of course??
if you could get the box and transfer i know you would need the auto computer, loom and torque convertor etc etc to make it all work and some sort of speed sensor to get its input from
so question a: Does any one know for sure if it would bolt to a td42 block or if they do share the same bell housing bolt pattern and if i could find an electrical guru would it be possible to graft the loom in to the car???
and question b:
Has any one seen any gear boxes for sale or wrecked 4.8's kicking around
Have tried all the 4x4 wrecker web sites just to see whats out there but havent made any phone calls untill i get some more info on if it would actually work or not
i reackon a big torquie turbo diesel with a 5 spd tip tronic auto would be ace
i would love to make this a reality so any help and feed back from the guru's out there would be much appreciated
cheers sean
p.s sorry for the long post
