Lockers for a GU

Need some help on a decision and which way to go!
PROBLEM: Which is a better option to go, I want to
fit a locker to my front diff first and then later to the rear.
Hear in is my problem. I can pick up brand new detroit
lockers really cheap
still in box, but have heard that their
a bitch on road
. Would this be the way to go or should I
bite the bullet, save up and fit air lockers.
I use the car every day for work and get offroad when ever
I get the chance , any help is appreciated.

Hard decsion because the rear will behave differently (although my LSD still chirps on concrete) does your missus drive it much. If not I can't see the harm especially if they are cost effective. You could always sell em if you airs in later and prolly get your money backish.
Tyre wear on the rear but really if your out in the bush all the time wear is there anyway.
Steering in the front end will be harder with auto hubs too so you just cant unlock one.

In my experience, detroit rears work well off road but you have to change your driving style on road. Detroits will disengage when coasting around corners but will engage under torque. You have to learn to stay off the gas too early when turning out of corners. Can be a giggle in the rain when you give it a boot full!!!! But can get you into trouble as well.
An auto locker on the front of full time 4wd's is treacherous on the road!!!! Not a good setup. Definately go for a manual air locker on the front. Turn it on or off at will. Can't beat it.
