2H Head rebuild Q's

Can Rockers on a 2h be refaced (valve side) as it appears my clearances were too tight and a few of the rockers where it hits the valves have been worn with grooves/dips in them, was wondering if its possible to have them refaced/machined? or would it be cheaper to buy new rockers if possible (or does anyone have any old rocker sets lying in there shed :) )

Also, is it worth me replacing precombustion chamber caps in the head while rebuilding it, one or two show slight cracking.

Thanks
Ben

You'll find that the faces you're talking about are case hardened or hard faced. I doubt you can repair them so they'll last many k's. They should also be settup perpendicular to the rocker stud centerline, which makes repairs even more difficult to get rite. Better off with new from dealer or new aftermerket, roller tips would be nice if you can afford em, but I don't know if there available.

I believe they are actually chrome faced.

I believe the new rockers and assembly is about $600 from toyota.

This was discussed over at exploroz a while ago and is a common problem based on that discussion.

call around the 4x4 wreckers as last time i was hunting down parts for my fj 45 one of the wreckers had several sets of reconditioned rocker & shaft assembles hanging up in his show room for the 2h
