Try Australian 4x4 insurance on 0396709344. They are underwritten by CGU and will insure anything which is "legal". Im with them and have made a claim, had no dramas what so ever. I even got to pick my repairer. So as far as insurance companies go, I would say they are OK.
Hope this helps.

Is it agreed value based on their assessment on the age or by the red book or can you nominate what the replacement cost would be to you?

Ive got agreed value plus the cost of accessories and mods. Ive listed all my add ons and cost, and they have added it to the policy. They also cover for a certain amount ($2000 I think) of camping equiptment, cameras etc if there is a total loss, EG swept away, fire etc.

What are looking at for premiums vs insured cost. Ballpark.
I'm trying to determine whether I'm being ripped off by my current insurance.
Currently I'm being charged $550 for agreed value( theirs, not mine) for $9900 for a 1990 Hjz75 inclusive of all mods and accessories.
Replacement cost to get what I've got would be a lot higher than this amount.

I'm paying $900 a year with them for my '94 4Runner. Insured for about 6 grand more than the 'others' would. And that includes all mods/accessories (including V8, susp and body lift, tyres etc etc....)

Mines insured for agreed value and the cost of accesories. All up about 50K+. Costs me about $1100 a year. Not too bad I suppose considering what it would cost to replace it, all those hours etc...
EDIT: sorry, premiums will go on driving history, claims, age etc.

Thanks for the feedback. Looks like I'm being ripped off by the rogues ( I'm with AAMI) given that I've never made a claim in the last 25- 30 or so years.
I'll give these guys a try and see how it goes.
