Problem Engine Mounts

After replacing the broken lhs engine mount a year or so back, and the rhs shortly after with new genuine daihatsu mounts, both mounts have now sagged and are resting on the upper curved bit.

I am getting a lot of vibration because of this. I then replace both of them AGAIN (at great cost) and I started with about 1 or 2 mm of space, but that has now closed up.

I went and saw a feroza at a wrecker, and you could fit your finger in the gap.

has anyone else got this problem, I have checked the engine brackets and chassis for bends but it all is ok. I have aircon, p/w steering and extractors, but they shouldn't weight the engine down so much that the mounts can't hold it up.

Gearbox mount is ok.

well i hav similar probs but lhs only. motor has alot of flex in it when revd. plus the heat from the extractors helpd it along to crack n shit itself. so far ive gone through 4 lhs mounts in 2 yrs.

I replaced my LHS mount nearly a year ago with a 2nd hand mount from a wreckers.. and a piece of seatbelt wrapped around it (burn some holes for the bolts to poke through the middle of the belt) and I havent had a prob since.
total cost was about $30 if i remember.
the seat belt prevents the mount from Pulling apart and cracking the rubber.

seatbelt works a treat!... I been through water mud, all sorts of stuff...even hard launches and high revs and never had a prob ;)

Do it once, do it right... wrap a bit of seatbelt around it

Doesn't look like anyone has had experice with brand new (not broken) mounts sittling on their overloads.

I am gona try getting a used mount (in one piece!) and see if its is any better that the news ones. Arrgghh... shouldn't have to do this :bad-words:

These don't separate. They are on the engine swap but something similar could be made for the 1.6L. I was supprised that there is very little vibration. I noticed that there is more torque going to the wheels with these.

I tore the stock left engine mount which took out the tranny mount also a long time ago. I am very happy with the new mounts. The pic shows them in the conctruction phase and not completely welded together.
