looked at a MQ shorty today, its fairly cheap from the looks of it.
it had an SD33 moter in it but only one battery, vin no is KR160**** which i thought ment it should have a P40 in it??
i used to have one with an SD33 and the radiator and cowl look different to the one i had too so im thinking it had an engine swap at some stage. its got a 5 speed manual, air con (missing the belt), power steer and looks tidy. usual rust infront and behind the rear guards.
my Question is, whats the go with the 12Volt and is there anything else i should have a look at considering the engine conversion.

Nissan did a lot of "experimental developement" with the MQ / MK series, to be more specific the later stages of the MQ and in the early stages of the MK.
There are MK's that were only 12volt with the diesel donk & 5spd box but they did not come with the turbo which came out later in the series.
Much of what they learnt went directly into the GQ series which is why the GQ series is such a superior machine compared to other makers vehicles both back then and even today.
The only thing that I'd be worried about is the registration issues if and thats IF its been a conversion, check out the rego label for the engine # and make sure it matches the actual donks #........
If it does then shes all plain sailing
Good luck

The Nissan ID plate will tell you which engine it came with.

as said above,
there was an SD33 with 12 volt, farely uncommon but they were around.
most of the SD33T series were 12 volt......
id say there hasnt been a conversion.... or someone has just converted there 24 volt system to 12 volt which isnt that difficult. can be done in 1 day without too many issues.....assuming u have all the bits and peieces.
check out the rego for matches, if they match sounds like u found urself a start
