Hey guys i recently started my fitter and turner apprenticeship with brisbane transport and have access to lathes and cnc machines. So what i was wondering is if i am to move the front diff of my 84 lux forward 50mm is it ok to make 2x 25mm spacers one at the transfer case and one at the diff? and with the spring perches could i make up a plate wiht one threaded hole and a bolt to sit in the original perch then a second hole 50mm back from it? also when shortenign the draglink 50mm will it bind to much when flexed up? any help appreciated..(ps i searched but only found info on either moving hangers or only 35mm forward

you want to put in 2 x 25mm spacer on your front drive shaft? Why not make a square shaft? i just redrilled the perches on the front of mine to gain that extra 35mm, doing a u-bolt flip and modifying the plate to accomodate the new pin location should solve it, im waiting til i get 37's until i bother with it though... i got the extra 50mm forward by getting new main front leaves made up drilled 50mm forward rather than put rears in the front, i only had to modify the drag link and torque rod (diff locator), no cross over or extended shackles or any expensive stuff.

how did u modify the drag link? do the ends unscrew? i dont need a square front shaft if i can get away with a 25mm spacer at transfer case end and one at the diff end(to spread the laod over the bearings). It's not goin to have huge flex to start with its mainly to clear the 35's comfortably so no more rubbing on the inner guard and mud flap at full lock

i chopped the drag link down to size, then v butt welded it together and then sleeved it with pipe, very dodgy i dont recommend it, i just did that to get driving, im looking for an adjustable one right now. The ball joints unscrew but not enough adjustment for a 50mm difference in length.

was driving along the service road beside mount lindsay between jimboomba bridge and south maclean. I was ont he left hand side coming up a hill and a lady came over the top of the hill write in the middle so i swerved left to miss her and hit a sandstone rock doin about 80 km/h wiht the front left tyre. It popped the tyre mashed the rim broke the ubolts off the diff bent the housing, smashed that bakc up into the inner guard which then stopp the left hand side door from opening which pushed up and bent the body enough for the windscreen to pop out....the steering was all bent shock towers driveshaft all stuffed. At the time it jsut seemed like i hit a speed bump to fast and busted a tyre. The car pulled up fine after it didnt seem stuffed jsut lower on the left hand side. Unfortunatley the lady jsut kept on driving so i had to fork out the excess :bad-words:

i think with the draglink i will machine up a bar of high tensile steel and thread the ends then jsut use the ends off the original ones....anyoen knwo what grade steel steering components are made from?
