Just warning you they're all going to tell you to search about this info... there is so much around...

I just bought some Goodyear Wrangler M/TRs and they are really great!

Don't know if they're what you're after though.. They are a really good allround tyre, yet might be a bit lacking in serious mud compared to Bajas....
Maxxis get really good wraps by people who use them also.. They have the Trepador (quite similar to Baja) and the Creepy Crawler in terms of competition bias tyres.
The Creepy is - "DOT approved - not recommended for street use".

I always thought that Baja was at (or near) the top of the heap though :D Why did you want to change brands?

Wouldnt be too good on road though

traction is one of my reason the have bugger all side on traction ,..they tend to slide sideways in ruts ..and the price is this same everywhere you go ..no competition as far as pricing .

I recently had some of the new Kuhmo Muds fitted to my 4runner and am so far really happy with them....as quite as a claw on the black stuff, but drive much better in both dry and wet bitumen.....they were good in the sand at fraser at 15psi but haven't had them in any decent offroad stuff yet.....

Am going out in the mud on sunday with them and will update the thread below.......

Talk to Ryano at Fourbys....he'll do you a great deal on them!!

Anything but radial claws would be good cause they suck, i don't just mean suck they are the suckiest suck tyres that ever sucked and yes i have a set 33" and they suck.

I can see your point in sliding sideways in ruts etc.. The Baja tread runs across and theres not much to break it up...

The MTRs i have are great.. not a lot of sideways movment and the sidebiters are a bonus also when in ruts.
The zig-zag designed tread helps give traction and prevent against sliding to the side.

A whole lot of the trucks in Nissan Trials ran MTRs.. so they must be ok for comp type work

Those new Kumho look pretty good... not sure about serious mud work.. we need some trip reports Twisty  The voids are huge in them i spose so I cant see too much mud getting stuck in there

Yeah mate...trip reports are coming.....the voids in the side lugs are huge...which I think will make them good for offroad and mud....but the centre lugs are almost as close together as an all-terrain, which I think makes them handle on the black stuff so well.....they are also a pretty soft compound......

Whats the go with Simex Jungle Trekkers. I have never seen them on a comp 4x4 or in any action pics only seen the pedes. They look ok to me and look like they may do the job but why does no-one use them much

I just bought a set of Maxxis Bighorns. Haven't had them offroad yet but the 33's were $260 and they are good on the road. Will be taking them offroad early next week.

I have had a few sets of BFG muddies but thought I would go with MTRs with my last set. Next set back to BFG muds, The MTRs don't wear that well -even compared to Mud terrains and are useless in mud even with about 10mm of tread still on them. They chip really easily as well. I have had nothing but praise for the BFG Muds as we use them at work on all 11 Landcruisers we have with minimal issues ( the all terrains are crap though).

Any sort of mud driving and I would look elsewhere from the MTRs. I would class them as an all terrain in a tough field of all terrains (eg. coopers, etc.)
