I have a tb42 (carby) GQ. The engine bay is utterly filthy.

What's the best way to go about degreasing/cleaning 150,000 kms of dirt/dust etc etc from it?

clearly I can't just pop the bonnet and start hosing stuff willy nilly (or can I)

tips/advice please

Cheers,

Brian.

Not a Nissan only subject so should be in general.

Degrease it thouroughly and let it dry.

Spray lots of tyre foam around the engine bay....

Apparentely thats it, no rinsing off, it will vibrate the dirt off whilst driving.

Thats the common story, once all off keep it lacquered in WD40 to protect it and make it look new(ish).

I use the CT truck wash. Put it in a spray bottle with a bit of water, spray it all around then let it sit for half a day. High pressure hose off, and she comes up pretty schmick....

I use bug and tar remover in an aerosol can - comes out llike a foam. A cheap one from Crazy Clarks etc works fine. Works better than the best degreasers. Dont leave the foam on for more than a minute or so before hosing off.

High pressure cleaning is the best.(theres actually not alot of water mostly air) and leave the car running.

If air cleaner exposed. Cover it with a garbage bag.
Then get the hose out and hose everything. On my old diesel everything got the pressure washer on it.
Petrol so far everything still gets washed. (but have only had it 2months).
No need to leave them running, I have never had an issue.
