recently got a heap of work done on my hilux. Air lockers, full suspension kit, snorkel, tires etc.

can anyone explain why my tailshaft/uni would now be squeeking at low revs when it had never done it before.

i am worried that i will be out the back of nowhere and it will go >BOOM<

any advice would be greatly appreciated :? .

regards,
DAVE.

Do you have a 2 piece rear shaft with centre bearing?
If you do then I would look there first.
If its the centre bearing toss it and go to a single piece shaft. Better in the long run.
If you find it is a uni just whack a new one in they arnt that expensive.

check the unis. i had a squeek in my hiace when i was an apprentice, tafe teacher told me to change the uni immediately or it will go bang, so i did and all was sweet.

i got them all greased up. the company i got the lift from and the amount i shelled out: it wouldnt want to be sus.

the thing is i had i 4bn today, all day and it didnt squeek once. it seems to be only occasionally. is it possible or likely for water or grit etc to penetrate and cause that noise?

if not, how much is not expnsive and how long have i got before re-enactment of the big bang.

i thought at the beginning that because it was only a suspension lift that the tailshaft would enter the diff on a bigger angle than when it was standard, and the bearing was making the noise now due to the greater angle??????????????????????
