Hilux Axle Swaps

Since ive started looking around at Hilux extra cabs, i have found plenty of pics of the big lux extra cabs/4runners with very wide wheel stance. Is there a common axle swap most of these guys do over there?
I found the link on here for the IFS widetrack kits, and i suppose some people are putting 80series diffs under there luxs, and i supose some people are just putting in wheel spaces...
Just wondering wats the most common way (most cost effective too) to get some more width to stable up a tipsy prone hilux.

Cheapest way would probably be getting a set of sunraysers and change the offset so they have a nice deep dish. I think they flip the centre or something????

Yes, or IFS widetrack should cost you about $450 (including hubs) for the front if you DIY, IFS rear housing could cost anywhere from $150 to $450 depending on where you get it what condition, how complete etc etc. I recon 80s front and IFS rear is probably the widest and strongest setup you could have in a lux while keeping it all toyota.

Hey drop bear - why 80's in front?? are they wider than IFS hubs or is it a strength issue? If strength why not go 80's F & R? What are the widths of each F & R combo for comparison of both IFS and 80's?
Am i missing something?

IFS are wider than standard axles by about 2.5" and 80's axles are wider than IFS by about 3" i think..

Is the IFS rear diff of any particular model better... the later hiluxes or any particular model surfs?

surf rear axles are set up for coils - esier to get an ifs axle from a LN111 or similar as its already setup for leafs..

80's have bigger cv's, i think the axles are the same size though, as 80's front diffs are interchangeable with hilux diffs, you could use an 80 rear too, but i think thats a 9" diff in the rear youll just sacrifice a little clearance thats all. Not sure on the widths, but i dont think the 80 is 3" wider than a lux front with ifs widetrack, maybe 1"... but i dont know the exact figures

i'm pretty sure that they are about 3" or more wider, have a set in the shed and an ifs 4runner, measured both and it's somewhere between 75 and 100 mm (didn't take tyres off 4runner to much work)

Not sure I'm following 100% If i put an 80's front diff in and swapped my rear for and IFS unit the front would be 1" winder than the rear?
IFS widetrack is ment to give 1.5" each side.

No the rear would be 3" wider then a standard hilux (non IFS) and the front would be 3-4" wider then the new rear (or 6-7" wider then the non IFS diffs)

Anyone know the actual measurement wms to wms on the 80's front? Professors's lux runs 80 up front and IFS in the rear, doesnt seem to be much difference in them unless he is running spacers in the rear.

I assume wms is wheel mount surface or similiar
80 series Front 63.5" (1615mm)
rear 62.5" (1590mm)
just mearsured the set in the shed
hilux solid axle 58" (1475mm)
hilux ifs 61" (1550mm)
(so what i said earlier was wrong 80s are only 50mm wider then ifs hilux, like i said i didn't take the tyres off to measure it)

is that ifs rear? ill measure my front with widetrack during the week and post it up.
EDIT:solid axle lux front with IFS widetrack measures 1490mm, quite a bit shorter than the 80 front!!
