2.5" exhaust without extractors

Just a quick question. I have seen on prevoius topics some ideas for increased performance from the 2.8D Hilux 3L, being 2.5" exhaust and extractors and K&N air filter. Not to mention a Turbo. My question is will just a 2.5" exhaust and K&N filter do the trick or does the 2.5" exhaust need the extractors. Also if I fit a 2.5" exhaust now and fit a turbo later will I have to change the exhaust again?
Any comment would be greatly appreciated.

My 2p.
If you want your motor to last, use either Toyota air filter elements, or fit a Donaldson type aircleaner.
On my 2H, I recently fitted extractors (off eBay, $50) and 2.5" exhaust.
This mod made noticeable gains in power delivery. I do not think a larger bore exhaust on its own would make an appreciable difference.

exhaust and air filter will make a difference, extractors make it very noticable, and different brand extractors make different improvements. the exhaust will be fine with a turbo. BUT when you fit the turbo the exhaust will have to be changed to fit the turbo so you may aswell fit 3 inch new exhaust..... lol, but 2.5 will be fine.

Ring AXT or DTS Turbochargers.....you WILL NOT have to change your exhaust to 3".DTS turbo-chargers are dynoed with best power delivery tests coming from a 2 1/2",this is what they recommend for best results. Yes,the turbo has a 3" dump pipe off the back of it,but an exhaust shop will reluce the size to meet 2 1/2" no worries.I did exactly this just recently....had extractors & 2 1/2" exhaust, but needed more poke,so I bolted on a blow-dryer
Still have extractors sitting in garage,PM me if you want em!

I agree on the exhaust, but why purchase the extractors? they won't be used for the turbo...

spot on. but at the moment just to throw confusion into the equation I am reading about LPG injection. Has me thinking as myself and my mate stuff around a fair bit with NOS ( ski boat and fairlane) Might have a couple more beers and think about it some more
