looking at putting a custom tray on the lux, just wondering if there a few picks or maybe a link or two floating around that might be of use.

Don't forget that if you want to run in comps many require back stays to be straight.

Although mine's not custom as such, its an alloy tray, corners cut and DOM 4 point cage mounted through.

How have you guys mounted the trays..... without welding them directly to the chassis???

I made up some U plate's from 10mm steel plate that slide around the chassis rail from to to bottom, but there's a few things to keep in mind.
one is that I had to cut all my original tray mounts off the chassis being very carfulf not to nick or cut the chassis its self, so that the uplates could be positioned close to the cab. second of all there is two ways of attaching them, one is to just make your U plates long enough that you can put a bolt through the U plate and underneath the chassis rail. The problem with this is that the tray can move slightly, the plate and bolts can snag on rocks, and is not the strongest way to attach if you are looking at build a tray that will help protect you in the case or a roll over.
My prefered way is to make the plate so they sit flush with the bottom of the chassis rail, next you have to drill 2 hole's in each chassis rail so you can weld in some crush tube, then bolt the U plate through the chassis and crush tube. The bonus with this style of attachment is that the tray can't move and its very strong, I would also use a minimum of 2 14mm grade 8 high tensile bolts per mount.

nah not yet - nothing a bit of black plastic wont fix!!!

The new springs may not like it though - may end up looking like

axle stands baby just wack em under the chassis rails and start running the hose into the back of the ute.

and don't forget a mount for the punisher
