The funny thing is alot of people want these bars, and i'll be surprised if it doesnt go closer to $600. And i know thats not as much as a new, some of you may not be aware that arb only do a winch bar now, you cant get the non winch bar! I think there $900 which is cheeky, but if a second hand goes for around $600 i think i'd just cough up the extra and know there is nothing wrong with it. that one is suss on ebay!

The funny thing is alot of people want these bars
thats because they offer more protection than these crap tube bars everyone is making these days.
Good Bars. Hit a roo at 60k the other night. no damage at all.
Like to see you do that with one of the tube bars and see if your 4x is written off in the process..
That Vitara tube bar in the other thread would bend at the sight of a shopping trolley !

I think subconsiously we all like sheep I know some people who even wear gumboots love them.......
On a more serious note the bull bar that I bought from ebay was $151 to pay 600 700 900 dollars for a bit of metal is a trifle too high...But you do need a bull Bar as Skippy the bush Kangaroooo is always ready to tackle you....And winch just does not look right on a bumper bar........

tube bars protect plenty enough when you're 4wdriving. if u want something to stop roo strikes, get a 5 poster

antt wrote:tube bars protect plenty enough when you're 4wdriving. if u want something to stop roo strikes, get a 5 poster

why get a 5 poster when you canget an ARB Bullbar like we are discussing. That isone of their primary goals, to protect the vehicle from animal strikes. Not everyone wants a tube bar, some people need the added protection a quality bullbar provides, especially if they live and drive in country areas

There not going to protect the 4x from any side/corner hits, or bonnet hits. There more a fashion statement these days !

um i think most tube bars are designed also for better approch angles etc etc...
So far we have learnt that airbags are the bomb tube bars are shit and unless your running boggers you should stick to the mall
So i am goin out tommorow to buy an ARB bar and sum airbags and a set of 38" boggers tommorow then ill outdrive dan dibble no worries
Id even bet my house on it

pfft I dont have a house

im getting a tube bar made ATM, its main purpose is to get solid front recovery points. It is not for a winch. It will also provide protection for my radiator (gemini radiator comes below the chassis), improve appoach angle & not look exactly like any other bar. It will suit my needs perfectly.

Guys you have to remember that different people have different needs from their vehiicles. Yes tube bars are great for approach angles and being able to be designed to protect certain parts of the car.
Bullbars like the ARB ones are designed for different purposes. They protect the vehicles from animal strike in the bsh, they provide secure mounting points for winches and they can offer airbag compatibilty.
Neither is better than the other for all occasions but they each have their own specific uses.

and arb bars are $800+ and my toob bar was $60...go figure..

then you need a plastic one, melt some PET bottles on your stove , suck in the fumes, pour it into a mould = elcheapo. Better protection shouldnt be skimpt on, its your life when you hit mister big.

so you have factored in the cost of employess, the purchase of machinery and ongoing maintenance, the testing procedure so your bar meets relevant safety limits, procedures to ensure you bar is compatible with airbag equipped vehicles, everything is also obviously in place to ship these worldwide for saes and it is also compliant with other countries safety codes. It is also an insurable item I imagine as well.
These are some of the factors as to why a BUSINESS needs to charge more money on top of the fact they want to MAKE money when they sell something they aren't charities.
If you cann make a bar for cheaper then hooray for you, but it really annoys me when people then have a go at businesses for charging for their products
