Outer Limits 4x4 Board

Need help.. or advice. I have my 2.8 4m40 engine Pajero 96 model..My egine tends to aquired air on its fuel line. I have replace the fuel filter already but it seems at cold start the egine does not receive propper quantity of Diesel and choaking up till i reach zero RPM and the egine will turn off. but after 20 mins of maintaning propper step on the gas pedal the engine will run normaly as if it does not have any problem at all, this was the problem before thats why i have replace the fuel filter. but it did not solve the problem. I have check for possible leaks and did not found any. My questions is How do i get rid of the air on my fuel line. does this model of pajero has more than one fuel filter i need to replace? what are the prossible spot i need to check ? and do i need to adjust or open any valve on the injection pump to remove the air

My first guess is a hairline crack somewhere on the supply side of the fuel pump. It allows tiny volumes of air in, so the line will drain back to the tank if given enough time, but not enough air to affect running once the line is properly bled. The supply side is always under suction, so you shouldn't expect to find signs of a leak.

Other than that - no idea.

Have you bleed the air out of the filter? on my 2.3 there is a plunger on the side and a bleed off valve you open and prime it untill the fuel stops bubbling. also i've heard of the stock one way valve going bad causing the fuel to run back and a bit of air to get into the line and it will sputter until the truck warms up, its been recommended a after market one way valve installed inline to solve the problem.

Bypass your fuel filter just for overnight , run the engine and then leave it for the night. See if the problem is still there in the morning.

Thanks Guys for the Input. Somehow I have found out that my fuel pump also has a leak that allows air into my fuel system. A fuel hose from pump going to Injection pump of the engine was also replace due to visible shape and physical deformation. The engine still aquired air despite of those replacement. but now its kinda take some time unlike before it means there are morethan one contributing leaks on my fuel line
