Beadlocked rims.....

Hi all
Does anyone know if Mechanical Beadlocked rims can be balanced at all and how can it be done???????
Mate of mine has 37's on his Patrol and they wobble like fark..

Alot of tyre joints now spin the rim and tyre seprate so they can then mount them using less weights. I would try that first. Even if u get your rim spot on balanced, u are still going to stick on a unbalanced tyre.

tyre shops can use stick on weights when there's no lip for conventional weights,another thing you could try are dynabeads out of the U.S.(ceramic beads which roll around inside the tyre and find the right balance automatically).

The stick on weights are ok for a time until they come unstuck. You will always fight to retain the best balance especially if you use them offroad often. Most people match tyres and rims for the best balanced combination and put up with slight out of balance issues.

balance issues are due to rim design. core beadlocks maintain a far better balance due to their self centering design - they keep the inner lip. i had mine balanced by forby's. conventional beadlocks imo are suited to rockcrawling etc and higher speeds will always be troublesome - watch out for broken studs

Has anyone heard of balancing bags, apprently they use them to balance truck tyres.
Has anyone used them and has it helped???

Balance bags are just bags of lead shot or plastic beads that tear open inside the tyre under rotational force. They work by spinning out against the section of the tyre with the highest angular velocity which is also the bit that is causing the tyre shake. Once you stop the shot just falls to the bottom of the tyre until the next time it is rotating with enough speed to hold the shot against the tyre again.
Good bit: its dynamic so as the tyre ware changes or you tear a lug off, the tyre is rebalanced automatically.
Bad Bits: funny sounds from wheels until rotational speed is high enough. Not many places does this and it takes a while to work out what size bag to add. Expensive way to balance tyres if you change tyres on rims often.
Only works properly for highway type speeds

my beadlocks are balanced and they drive good, used static balancing and put weights on the inside on the rim only, used just normal weights like every other tyre.
