Advice on re-assembling Ring Style Airspring (w/ pic)

While mucking around with fancy lifts and long travel springs, I popped one apart. Not standard rubber rim type - this is an Arnotts aftermarket airspring from USA.
Arnotts may be able to offer some help and the product may be covered under warranty but Florida is a long way away...
The trick is to refit big ring back around the top of airbag which is secured by the ridges of the top cap. It's a really tight fit and I do beleive there is a more sophisticated method than just wacking it with a hammer. Just looking for some advice from anyone who may have experienced this problem before.

Thanks,
Hardy
