Whining Transfer Case in Coily

Hey all,
Just a few questions regarding (what i think is) my transfer case whining. Now and again (in all transfer modes 2H,4H,4L) when 'heavy' strain is put on the coily, the transfer case or something in that vacinity makes this deep whine, only for a split second or two, that i can almost feel through the body of the car. I thought this may be normal as the transfer case may just be loading up, but just checking with you guys to see if it is a common thing for zooks.

It may be a tailshaft uni drying out, siezing, or worn out.
Or a bearing or two in the transfer.
I don't think its normal or good to make that noise.

are you sure your wife is not in the car because mine makes the same noise when she is cheers

im 18 dude, LOL
How can i check to see if the uni is drying out or worn, and check the bearing s within the transfer case.
the car is coming up to 150,000kms now and has been owned by 2 p platers now so im assuming that things are going to start to break now, seeing as im getting into a bit more heavy 4bying.
BTW the car has been making the noise ever since i owned it and only makes it now and then

My rockhopper has a constant slight whine, louder when going faster, I just did the oils and added the nulon treatment, thinking it may quieten it, but it hasn't.
Have heard it is very common for reduction gearing to whine a little though.
Is your t-case stock?

Gday mate,
I replaced all universals on my sierra recently, and I figured the best way to see if the uni has siezed is to take out the driveshaft and check for play and toughness in movement.
Just a word of advice, if you end up replacing a uni, make sure you put the yoke back in the same way it came out... I acually ended up getting the driveshafts balanced. And its onmly done the car good!
