New to Pajero's...

Hi,
I'm new to pajero's and want to learn more... I've come across what seems a very honest manual 1991 LWB Pajero [series 2?] with a 2.5 turbo diesel engine. I'm wanting it for long distance touring and pay and play days.
What i'd like to know is:
what are the weak points in these vehicles?
are they IFS front end or live axle?
what's the auto engage on the front axle like? [I'm used to manual locking hubs]
previously i've driven range rovers, land cruisers and patrols and so am very new to these cars.
finally what are aftermarket parts like? I'd like to put 33" tires on and given the type of offroading that i do would need to lift the vehicle about 3" to get very decent ramp over ange.
thanks
Harv
