Outer Limits 4x4 Board

I have a serious whine on my LHF wheelbearing that needs to be replaced. Any idea where in melbourne to get em cheap, should I change the CV's at the same time just in case and/or grease the hubs?

I got mine at Bursons, cheapest that i found and RACV discount when you show your tag

I do not know about Melbourne, but it seems that prices vary greatly around the country, I ended up contacting Podge on here who sourced some decent Japanese (read avoid Taiwan) ones at the best price.

Definetly let grease be your friend whilst you are in there, bearings, hubs, kingpins, everything

So what should I expect to pay?

cheap ones around 30 a side, that includes 2 bearings and a seal and to to bearing collets, (that the bearings run on) make sure you are competent in replacing them and make sure you know how everything is greased up..have a look at a workshop manual..
might want to do axel seals and knuckle felt seals while your there to stop water getting in an munching it all up..

dont bother replacing the cv's just grease em all up.

I did both my front ones when i was 4x4ing one day and it was because the mud was getting through a seal. I think i paid about $60 for a full set from a place called the bearing joint.

Last couple of times the bearing kit has cost $47.50 each side and at the same time I (we) have done the hub seals and kingpin bearings with an $85 kit off Ebay. All up less than $200 for the whole job. Well worth doing, each time whoever owns the Zook states that it has made a huge improvement.

Not too complex a job, messy job though. You can even get a reasonable step by step guide on iZook.com The worst part is that you need a bloody big (50mm) socket to undo or tighten the locknuts on the bearings.

I got mine from Suziworld Heidelberg....can't remember how much I paid for them but Mick there has helped me out a fair bit so i was quite happy to buy them off him.
