Bending past 90 degrees with a dawn die?

i remember someone (wendle?) on here saying it was quite possible to bend well past 90 degrees with a dawn die. i need to make hoops up for my airshocks, and places want over 50 bucks a bend to do it, so gonna give it a go ourselves before i cough up that sorta money.
so anyone know how its done?

have heard of filling with sand and capping the ends which will help stop kinking

easy.
you might have to do one dummy run to work out the centres between bends. if it is a full 180° bend you want, i am pretty sure it is 220mm between centres for 32nb. the lesser your total angle is, the smaller that dimension will need to be.
mark the centre of your bend, then mark each side of it whatever you work out (220mm for 180° for example). i also sit a piece of small angle on the material to mark a seam line down it so that all the bends are in one perfect plane. bend the two outside bends to just past 45°, then bend on the centre mark till you get your desired total angle.
works out very neat.

what sorta radius can ya achieve wendle? we need something like 300mm from centre to centre of the finished bend, so a radius of 150mm. possible? or not.
i'd try it myself, but the bender isn't here, and wont be back to the shed till friday

i think it would be more like 350mm from memory. the one bend i did to a full 180° i didn't end up using. the closest to it that i have on my buggy now is about 150°, and i think that might be 25nb. that might be another option for you. the 25nb wouldn't be any more than about 250mm centre/centre, but you have to take the springs off the bender and cut very close to finished length before you start bending to get the material in there.
