Outer Limits 4x4 Board

Posting for a mate!
He has a 80 series,good truck but bad lights.
he's tried differant lights/inserts and globe's, but
still when out at night and you dip your lights
the road dissapears.
He's thinking of converting/modifying it to round lights
instead of square lights, has antone done this.

he will get much better results if he just fits spotlights for much the same money and much less stuffing around. Go IPF or lightforce i say

He has good spottie's.
Its just low beam(no spottie"s)thats the problem.

even kitting it with a ipf headlight upgrade

or has he atleast put a relay on his headlights

May sound like a stupid question, but are they adjusted correctly? If they havent been adjusted after lifting the vehicle, they would be too high hence not being able to see the road. If they are adjusted correctly, I would recommend the IPF headlight upgrade just on the outers. Makes a big difference.

How about fitting a piranha super loom or simular to his vehicle. If you do a check at the headlight plug, some Toyota's don't get a full 12volts to the head lights thus producing a dulled headlight effect. Mine improved by fitting a new loom and it wasn't a hard job! The looms do all four headlights.

i would do as coight suggested, check what voltage the lights are getting across thier terminals

if its less than 12v fitting a heavier aftermarket loom will improve things alot.

also fitting the IPF or hella H4 lenses with some 100/70 or even 100/90 globes would do the trick.

Shadow has got a good point with the IPF inserts and larger globe sizes, but it may also help if you have headlight protectors to drill a few small holes in them (generally in the corners) for air flow across the lights. Because of such a small area in the light inserts and larger wattage globes, the extra heat generated shortens the life of the globe, the extra air flow helps extend this life.
