hi all, have discovered a new leak on my Vitara. Im not very technical with cars. Someone able to let me know what the parts called, I want to see if i can claim it on my warranty. Id take it to a mechanic, though the ones near me are dodgy, and try rorting u for every dollar they can.
Thanks
All fluids seem ok-Have checked engine oil, Power steering fluid and auto trans mission oil, all seem to have ok levels.
PS - The oil is dripping where the circle is drawn, and flowing to the direction of the arrow.

hey mate by the looks of things i would call that a axle seal.

but hey could be wrong don't know to much on the vitaras

how old is the car
cause if it's not brand new you might find that it won't be covered under warranty as it is classed general wear and tear.

At a guess from the photo it looks like the axle seal at the end of the diff housing for the front diff. Check your front diff level too. What does the oil colour and smell like, engine oil or drive line oil?? If it is the diff its not a complicated job really if you are thinkin of doing it yourself.

thanks for that, though on closer inspection, it seems the bloody mechanic didnt tighten up the oil filter, and it was dripping slowly, right above the part circled, so alls ok. thanks

Loose oil filter, thats a worry. Check the sump plug too!
