Questions about a possible purchase

Hey guys. Well I've been looking for a few weeks now and there's one that I really want to check out early next week (the guy is away atm) but I just have a few questions. Here are the details.

160,000km
1996 Coily White Hard Top
4AGE 20v (engineered)
ARB Air Locker (rear)
31" Muddies
2" Body Lift, 2" Suspension Lift
Spot Lights
Bull and Tow bars
Separate compressor for the tires
Stock wheels come with it
Roll bar in the rear

I've spoken to him on the phone and he's said that it's pretty much perfect. Good condition both in and out with nothing more to be spent on it.

So what would something like this be worth assuming it's in pretty good condition and has no rust?

There was no mention of aircon. If it doesn't have it, is it possible to have it fitted and at approximately what cost?

Any other comments about the vehicle are appreciated. I'm just hoping it's going to be as good as it sounds when I go and check it out. Thanks guys.

what state are you in? Are all the mods legal and have any relevant engineers reports that will be cleared by the local authourities? Can YOU register and insure it with the 4AGE

I doubt it'd have aircon... very few sierras ever did

It is possible to add it and would run a few hundred or more depending on if you pay someone to do it

The guys said that all the work was done by an engineer and has an engineering certificate to go with it.

One thing I forgot to add was that it has a celica gearbox.

As for rego and insurance, he still has 6 months of registration on it so it would be a transfer into my name. I've checked with JustCars and they'll insure it for me at $260 third party or $400 with fire and theft. I'm on a rating 1 and currently have my Skyline insured with them. I gave them details on all mods including the engine type and they will insure it.

I'll check the details on the engineering certificate when I go and take a look. I'm in QLD for what it's worth.

If the only things that would be considered defective are things I can get away with such as tires or the body lift then I'm not too concerned. My R33 is far from legal and I manage fine because I'm nice and discrete with my driving and tend not to drag people or draw attention to myself.

Thanks for the advice guys. Keep it coming.

My coily came with air con, but it was optioned. With a different engine in their i highly doubt that it has air con.

One thing you might want to note with having the 20v in a sierra, that the power/torque band is practically useless for 4wdriving. I was into corollas and 4age's before i bought the sierra. You'll find that peak torque output is at something like 5,200 odd rpm, not cool for the engine for 1) Prone to overheating if you need to hold it at high rpm for decent power, 2) Shit for rockcrawling, as no bottom end torque, 3) Fuel consumption goes up as you need to thrash it more often. If it had a gze that would be awesome, or a 16v that would be good too, but i can see the 20v serving very well offroad.

In saying that, it will have a bit more balls than a standard 1.3, and it will probably still go well. Take it for a drive, see what you think.

time for me to STFU.
