Hi the steering in my newly bought 77, 40 is trashed. All the knuckles are loose and the rubber boots are mush. I'm looking for advice on what brand parts work well and where to source them.(I've already bought a steering box). I'm in Sydney. And keen for any tips people want share.

go 60 series, apart from the intermediate shaft, mines cost 200 in parts so far. all i've got left is the intermediate shaft and the 2 belt harmonic balancer to go

i'm looking at swapping to 60 diffs from my 40's at the moment. i've done the search on here. not sure, didn't really answer my woes. so anyway what's involved in the steering mods? i want to swap out the steering at the same time. i.e. do i have to change master cylinder, proporsioning valve, or anything else, sorry if i've asked a question that everyone else is asking .....

well your brake stuff will work, you might struggle getting steering arms to work (you'll need the 60 series one that goes between the knuckles, but one between the relay box and that rod... because the 60 stuff goes straight to the steering box, no relay box, couldn't guarentee that a 60 rod would work)

apart from that, then you've got to deal with the fact the spring perches need to go pretty much where the diff pumpkin sits

"Cheap" steering knuckles are a waste of time ... went through 4 sets of them - eventually got a set of OEM Japanese ones from SS4wd / Don Kyatt - 'bout the same price ... build quality 100% better
