I have just seem to have sorted out my radiator probs in my hilux with 253. I have a three core radiator out of some sort of landcruiser. the radiator guy i use couldnt remember what it was for, but it is about 100mm longer than a standard hj landcruiser radiator. I am also only running a single thermo fan and it seems to be keeping cool well on a 35 degree day crawling around up in the bush.

well this may not help but... i use the standard radiator in my lux with a thermo fan in front of the radiator and a davies craig EWP. keeps it running very cool when 4wding, and its about 90-95 degs on hwy when tramping it on hills etc...

Have you thought about running your rad on the back in the tray? Ive seen a fair few luxes with this set up and no-one has complained so far. I guess another alternative is to cut your front grill out but it looks a bit dodgy bros.

Hi, i have a supercharged v6 in my hilux and i am using a four core radiator core out an early cruiser, the core fits in the standard hilux frame so as no mods is needed to mount it, and am running a 16 inch thermo fan, with this set-up, it runs fine. I have also heard mounting ths thinner aluminium core out of a commodore and the thermo set up works well and requires little modification to mount it.

i run this in my lux with a V6 and runs sweet, unless the thermo fuss blows

I used a hz 3 core V8 radiator in my hilux with V6 commodore motor. I had to fabricate bottom radiator mounts which was very simple and used a 25mm x 3mm flate bar across the radiator support panel which picked up the original radiator body mounts and the holden radiator mounts neatly. I used a 1 inch body lift to clear the radiator cap. It would be perfect for your 253 as it was designed to cool it and all the plumbing is right. I think I had to modify the battery tray and offset the radiator to the side but it was pretty easy. You can get a stuffed radiator for nothing for the fit up to avoid damaging the new one (about $260). I ran twin thermos off an EF Falcon, which are supposedly very good, and used on burnout cars etc with big horsepower and no vehicle movement air flow. They were pretty easy to mount to the radiator with some mods and brackets. PM me for my phone number if you want to chat about it.
