The ventilation fan in my '83 FJ60 trips the circuit breaker (CCB) on the two highest speeds. Takes about 10min, but the 20amp CCB gets hot and trips. It'll run all day on the lower two speeds.
New CCB doesn't fix it.
New resistor pack doesn't fix it (no resistor on top speed anyway).
New brushes in the fan doesn't fix it.
Anyone had a fan failure before ?
Are replacement fan motors avail ?

How are the fan bearings? A DC motor produces a "back emf" proportional to speed - this is why stall current is so much higher than normal running current. If your motor is running slow because the bearings are dodgy then it will be drawing more current than a new one.
Alternatively, the easy way may be a 25A CCB. The breaker is primarily there for short circuit protection - a 25A will still do this. If you're really worried about the wiring, run new stuff rated to 30A plus. Probably cheaper, easier and more reliable than trying to find a working replacement fan.
