Just a quick one... Is the Prado tough enough to handle the rough?

Any differences between the post 2003 model and the current shape as far as durability and reliability?

Cheers!

You looking at getting a GX or GXL ? I have a GX and wish I went for the GXL as tyre choice is such a headache being the 17 inch rims are hard to get decent tyres for.

GXL is way better for mods as your already equiped with flaired guards and a few other trick bits. Go a set of either bilsteins or XGS (TJM) for a minor lift and bingo. not a bad truck at all..

Jarrod :)

unfortunatey NO prado's have a weak diff same as 100 series/ hilux. if you do beach driving or touring no ploblems. hard driving will cause you drama's i know a few guys that have broken rear diffs climbing dirt hills.

I didn'tthink they'd be much chop when it came to the off-road business but having the landcruiser badge you'd expect that it was at least a bit more durable than say a holden jackaroo. I don't mind te look of the new GXL models but again look don't count for much when you're off road right? Well as long as it looks tough anyways!

I hate buying cars... I can never decide...

I wouldn't knock the Jackaroo, it's made by Izuzu the truck company and they are very reliable strong vehicles as friends and family members have proven to me over the years. If you want bullet proof mechanicals for tough offroading get a Patrol, they have the toughest diffs in the business and even though I drive a 100 series Cruiser I'd get a Patrol any day as I've owned a GU before. I know someone who has done a rear diff in their Prado (2004 model GXL TD, ARB OME suspension 2" lift etc.) but I believe they were attempting to climb a hill that was only for more serious 4x4s.
