Does anyone know if there is anywhere around the Geelong area that you are allowed to drive along the beach?

LMAO! We are a friendly bunch, normallyEff wrote:looks like the dunes in S.A are better than the locals
bushpig, anytime you want to come over to SA we'll line up a canunda trip! U can drive on the beach too, but make sure its low tide & not winter!!!
Also, we are frequent vistors to Portland's Buggy Park - aka Swan Lake to us sandboarders. The Portland Buggy Club has 'club' use of the area (there was a comp on today but I had work to do :X) - The place is actually 25 min drive out of Portland heading towards SA . You can get access to the beach via the dunes, but not sure how much of the beach you can actually drive on. Anyway, if you make it that far you may as well come to SA & drive legally on the beaches here (like the patrol stuck at the back beach of Robe!)
Chops, are you sure its going to be 37 next weekend for the Naza event?! I hope not, that'll be just too damn dusty!! Hope to see you there

Hi Suzuki Surf Chik my wife and I said WOW you guys rock and look very fit!!!!! They are great photo shoots!
I hope to get to your neck of the woods in the very near future....I first will invest in air compressor as I suspect tyre letting down heaps..
I plan to venture there as a so called mate of mine has moved back to adelaide god knows where but he grew up in Salsbury (i thinks thats the wrong spelling) But prefer to see you guys Chops1 and your self in action... if you have the time....will be looking for low cost accommodation whilst there (no not your place)
I have to add the photos are really professional!!!
I have BFG's 30 X 9.50R15LT M/T TA are they ok for sand???
All the best

Hey bushpig! Thanks for the compliments I use my Sony V1 for some of the sandboarding sessions & my mate Spook has a Canon EOS (more 'pro' LOL)bushpig59 wrote:Hi Suzuki Surf Chik my wife and I said WOW you guys rock and look very fit!!!!! They are great photo shoots!

Yes, a compressor is essential for this area (no servo's closeby) and its highly recommended to deflate !! Dion's Landy runs 265 BFG AT's and they run in the sand just fine He's really happy with them, except since being on this forum, he wants 35" something or others...
Anytime you want to come over let us know, I can recommend some good places to stay over here in Mt Gambier.
Cheers,
Jo
Suzuki Surf Chik... thanks for that.... Have not been to Mt Gambier for some time......had great times there but you'd laugh at me when I was there last (1980) I'd love to go there for a dune bash .......
Is there any beach fishing spots worth going too?

YEAH HEAPS! but I'm not a fishing guru (actually I think the last time i went fishing would be the same time you visited Mt Gambier!)bushpig59 wrote:Is there any beach fishing spots worth going too?
I know a lot of ppl that can point you in the right direction for the good spots....... Canunda is a good start, but there are plenty of other beach spots that aren't hard or as long to travel to get to.
Beachport has the longest or second longest jetty in SA, somethin like 700 meters i think. People tend to fish all along the coast down there, just find a likely lookin gutter an fish away.bushpig59 wrote:Suzuki Surf Chik... thanks for that.... I used to have a Moke for over 20 years, before the Zook, so my packing skills are good. Zook feels huge after a Moke.bushpig59 wrote: Oh and learn the art of origami (pack stuff for 4 people in zook with out a trailer)...

Best trick is to use equipment designed for hikers, as this is always small and light and often high quality.
Also never pack anything unless it has more than one use.
My spares, oils, tools, etc are always packed, so I don't have to think too hard before trips.
