Outer Limits 4x4 Board

Did a search and found that the V6 4Runner calipers bolt straight up on the hilux for a brake upgrade.

What i am wondering is what year models is this for will they fit on my 95 Hilux? Do I have to do anything else like change the master cylinder?

pretty sure there the same as you got now,You would want to look at getting vented and slotted rotors.

I've just done a major upgrade on my brakes.

To make V6 4runner calipers work i used an 80 series booster and MC, 75 series rotors and the V6 calipers. also got disc brake rear and she pulls up on a dime

Can anyone confirm that they are the same as I currently have? Is there a bigger disc from a landcruiser model that will fit on easily?

hey mate i didnt do the mod myself, but my uncle at the local brake shop machined up 75 series brakes i think they were to go on my lux. the were heaps bigger and better,vented,slotted etc. ill see him today cos i think he said they basically went straight on???????

I just bolted a set of v6 calipers from a 95 4runner in my 85 4runner. No problems.

Yeah I have read that many have done that what i am wanting to know is if the V6 4Runner calipers are any beeter than the standard 96 Hilux Calipers as I know Hilux's got an upgrade to the calipers around the 89 model..

They are much better.

From memory, your calipers are the four small piston caliper where as the V6 ones are four large (the same size at 80series). NOTE: these calipers require more fluid so you will need a bigger MC and Booster. The 75 series rotors are a larger diameter than your current rotors and will bolt directly one.

As far as I can see 75 series rotors have the same diameter as a Hilux but they are vented. Do your solid axle 'luxes get vented rotors later on?

I dont know a lot about brakes :( So what is the benefit of going to the 75 series rotors over just doing the caliper upgrade?

If I dont do the MC and booster right away when i do the calipers what are the consequences?

The 75 rotors are exactly the same as your 96 hilux rotors so dont bother changing them. The V6 calipers have larger pistons so need more fluid.

Ok so I get the V6 Calipers and the 80 Series Booster and MC, does the 80 series fit and bolt up without any mods?

U also need to run 8mm wheel spacers to clear the larger calipers

yes it fits,you should only need the master cylinder

I rotated the booster upside down so the vacuum line would line up. Other than that its a bolt up job.

Your correct Tony. Mine were the soild old school ones and 75 series ones where the cheapest. i'd assumed that whiteknights rotors weren't vented. My bad.

I have a wide track kit (hub spacer) on the front do i still need to run the 8mm wheel spacers to fit the V64Runner calipers on?

No and depending on what wheels you run the 8mm spacer is not needed anyway.
