General shackle Q's

G'day all.
My new little Zook had some Superior extended shackles already
installed by the previous owner. Since never really modding a leaf spring 4by before I'm a tad scratchy on the theory
My questions are:
What is the length of standard?...ie how much longer (they're 120mm pin to pin) are the ones I have?
What is the ideal angle for them in a nominal (say flat ground) position?
When I shortly do a 2" spring lift, will they still be cool as far as angle/length goes?
How tight should the nuts be...ie, the nuts are nylocks that were super tight, and I reckon binding the poly bushes. Is it safe to back them off a bit to free them up?

think standard length is 70mm so yours would be 2" over standard.
Should be about 45 degrees when on flat ground I believe as a 2" extended shackle should give about 1 " lift
Looking at your pics they would probably suit a 2" spring lift quite well.
Nuts shouldnt be over tight...definitely shouldnt be strangling the bushes. I usually do them til their tight but not squashing the bushes. Remember to check them now and then as even with nyloc nuts or spring washers they can work a bit loose.

if you use the original bolts then they cannot be overtightend. (unless your stripping the thread)

I'd suggest that whoever installed them has replaced the bolts cause they were completely bound up/super tight. Driving it today with them backed off, they seem to be freeing up and considerable more subtle. Maybe I'll remove them and grease on the weekend, may inmprove further.

couple of things you could do and rest assured your bolts dont come undone. weld the shackes together with some tube square pipe so they look like a H. If it were me I would go to a fasteners and by sleeves to go over the bolts and between the shackels that you can cut to the correct length.
sounds pretty dodge what your describing epsecially from a recognised shackle manufacturer.

You shouldn't need to remove them to grease them, they should have grease nipples on each bolt.
