My brakes are nearly non-existant and I suspect that the calipers need an overhaul and the pistons are jammed. i rang the local brake places and they are all charging me around $250 for both sides. Anyone know somewhere that would do it cheaper?

Also been considering doing the V6 forerunner caliper swapover with the 80 series MC instead of spending the money on getting these rebuilt - anyone got a cheap suppliers details?

BHSS have excellent prices and their service is fantastic. If something is not quite right they will alwyas take it back and sort it out at their expense!

For discs ana pads im yet to find anywhere that can compete with www.discpads.com.au

BHSS AUTOMOTIVE ENGINEERS

Bowen Hills 58 Abbotsford Rd 4006
(07) 3216 1655

Basically they rebuild and supply anything to do with hydraulics. Brakes, clutch bits you name it. They also make a fair bit of stuff for one of the V8 supercar workshops which is based next door! Ive never met a more honest hard working bunch of guys, they are genuinely interested in whatever you've bought in, especially if its one of those obscure items nobody else wants to touch!

I had a big alloy custom plenum made for my rb25 in the s13 back when I owned it, the dick that made it only used 4mm alluminium in the base and had the thread tapped into that. As you can imagine with alluminium being so soft, it ripped the threads out when I was tightening it off, I didnt notice and the engine ate them causing a full rebuild ! They did some really impressive thinking outside the box, cut out little cubes around all the holes, welded in some 12mm alloy blocks and tapped new threads. Also did me up a nice repair bill to go and give back to the original supplier!

If they can't do what you want, chances are it cant be done or they will at least point you to someone who can do it !

Btw I have no affiliation with BHSS :D Its just rare these days you find a place that is so professional.

Cheers

mates dad owns BHSS and my mate works there, great bunch of guys. both my mate and his old man are perfectionists and it shows in the work that they and the rest of the company do. both are into 4WDing as well, but more touring than hardcore. highly reccomonded

I know you like BHSS for their engineering but you'd be surprised at how competetively priced their brake pads and discs are. They are agents for RDA and would be a fair bit cheaper than Bendix and DBA (which is all www.discpads.com.au seem to list). Give them a try next time. Unless you are a die hard Bendix fan of course and there are alot out there. I used to be one too but got tired of trying to defend an inferior product just because of its name.

Rang around and their quote where cheaper by about $100. Did a great job and ended up doing it cheaper than they quoted. Would recommend these guys to anyone.
