Outer Limits 4x4 Board

I am currently looking for a line locking device that applys brake pressure when the locker is activated. eg. Pull lever/switch and brake pressure is applied to that wheel

The electric solanoid types i can only find only work holding the pressure once its already applied. eg. Press pedal then turn on line locker.

Yes i know they are illegal, etc. But i want one for a project. Cable operated is ok/preferable but ill take what i can get

Any ideas ?

A trailer brake? like on the front of the hydraulic trailers?

The 'cutting brakes' that Beebee & Adrian (POS) and (I think) Tom use on their rigs/buggies work like this. Pull the lever and applies brakes to one wheel.

if you just wanted to mount a lever, some old subaru's had a hill start brake thing where when you put your foot on the clutch it would push a little valve closed on the brake lines therefore holding pressure. i think thats how it worked or it may have generated its own pressure... may be a cheaper alternative to a solenoid type?

I am currently working on fitting 2 remote power boosters, {VH44} and applying air pressure to the diaphram instead of vacuum, opposite side of diaphram, to lock single rear wheels. They will be inline with the foot brakes. An air switch is less bulky than a large lever assembly in the cab.

You are after something that works totally independant of the main master cylender?

Majority of serious rally cars have an in-line handbrake master that works in the rear circuit. You could get one for each wheel circuit but your going to have hydraulic lines going everywhere. Nothing is impossible but.

Another option could be to use a electric rear drum brake system off a trailer.

I think im going to explore the option of using drum brakes off a hilux and mate them up to my patrol
