steering collum problems with 2 inch lift on a fj45

Post by Matt_88 »

puttin a 2 inch lift in my 45 ute and today i have spent the day putting in the steering collum, well tried anyway. what do i have to do to to make it work? do i have to...
A. lift the steering box up 50mm? how do i do this?

B. cut the firewall away till it fits? how do i go about doin this if this is the waY?

also do i have to mod the bracket that holds the collum up( the one that joins to underneath the dash)

i have searched for this but couldnt get the info i needed.

cheers

elongate the hole where the steering shaft goes through the firewall just under the shaft about 10mm is needed
also undio the steering box and pack the front of it up with 2 or 3 washers to tilt it up slightly

then you need to looses the slip joint right off and join it all together you may actually have to undo the collum at the dash and firewall to get it together then do it all up from the box up
