If you drive a rocky (but could be any car/4x4), and you start to hear this wierd squeaking type noise (in time with the turning of the wheel), comming from one/some of the wheels (in my case was the left-back), dont just 'ignore' it for a couple of weeks until you have time
Here I was thinking it was a axle bearing or hopefully just sum muck in the rear drums, so I decided to just wait till I did a service (which was soon) to have a look, anyhow, started service today, put radiator flush in so I need to run the car for 20mins so I go for a drive, on the way back, doing ~80kph around a long easy bend, the Rocky decides to start drifting on its own ... I pull over thinking I have a flat rear tyre, get out, and 4 of my wheel nuts are loosey-goosey, and on the 5th one the actual bolt as sheared off So in 40degree heat (with slurpies in car melting) I jack it up, tighten the remaining 4 bolts up, drive home, borrow mothers car and start a mad rush to get to auto shops before they close (3:40pm on a sunday ) Stoopid cheap - get a 13yr old kid going 'ahh, yeah, umm, we have trailer bolts only i think, want a look?' - I look, no good
Go to autopro - Shut
Coldys towbars - Shut
Some 4x4 place - Shut
Finally remember repco, and low an behold, they actually had ONE rocky specific wheel nut/bolt thingy in stock
So now I still havent finished the whole service , all cause I was too lazy to just jack the rear up when I 1st heard the noise ( oh yeah, and I could have lost the whole wheel and died so i guess thats pretty bad to huh )

yeah, i think last time i cleaned out the drums the cover thingy didnt slip right on, so I tightened em, but then after a while the drum slipped itself all the way in, making the nuts loose Cant believe i didnt spot it straight awayHotFourOk wrote:Woah.... lucky man... remember to do up them nuts hey!
