i have an f70 and i am in the process of putting a turbo deisel engine in but i dont know if the axles will be able to take the power.
i have been told that in the states they regularly use v8s and v6s in f70s and so but i am unsure if this is just u.s. bull or what can any one tell me if this is correct or know of anyone who has a rig with 200 lbs ft engine power or upwards of that in any live axle daihatsu.

what TD is it? 4, 6, 8? Alot of rocky's came with 4cyl TD's, and from what I've heard their drivetrain is overkill for the engines they come with standard. So i rekon a 6 would be ok, 8 might be pushing it.

The Rocky's have a beefy driveline and as F70 said, it is a lot of overkill for the car its in. The F78 has 100bhp and 180lbs/ft.. and thats with the IFS front... which is probably not as strong as the live axel.

Doood, why only do the job halway? :D

If you've got the hilux axles, and the time/money to put them in, i cant see why you wouldn't. Bugger any purists who say keep it as an original rocky. The rocky has a cool looking body and a strong driveline, and hell, if they made lockers and other after market parts it would be PERFECT... but they dont, so stick the hilux ones in ;)
